JOB TITLE: Business Analyst
Department: Program Management Office (PMO)

Description: The Program Management Office (PMO) is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Business Analyst (BA) to work on software development projects from planning through release and ongoing maintenance. The BA conducts analysis on business needs and requirements early in a project such that Development has approved functional specifications when they begin work.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Interview business counterparts to effectively draw out and articulate the business requirements
  • Document requirements through multiple iterations with technical counterparts and stakeholders
  • Diagram and communicate existing vs. proposed workflows, processes, and business rules
  • Author scope documents and detailed functional specifications
  • Close open questions and drive business decisions
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Development/QA using a hybrid Project Management/Agile Scrum methodology
  • Provide consultation to Business and Development teams on open issues, questions, and alternative approaches
  • Self-manage dates and deliverables in order to meet tight deadlines

Skills\Aptitude:
  • Absolute passion for details and technology
  • Must be highly driven to learn complicated applications and processes
  • Strong personality: Tenacious with resolving unclear explanations, very comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity, tight deadlines, and demanding stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively - both verbally and written - to peers and business partners to include strong questioning and listening skills and ability to look beyond obvious answers to understand impacts
  • Able to lead and control meetings to effectively focus on the subject matter, make decisions, and close open questions
  • Proven ability to write well-formed, clear documentation and hold presentations for large groups
  • Skilled with diagramming tools, especially Microsoft Visio
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Constant reading, writing, speaking and understanding English. Frequent interpersonal skills, teamwork, customer service and use of discretion. Occasional decision making, mentoring, perform basic math, perform basic computer operation and software proficiency, independent judgment, presentations/teaching, problem analysis. Frequent talking, repetitive motions of hands/wrists, sitting, hearing and keyboarding. Occasional lifting, bending, or carrying.
